Renting a Van or 7-Seater in Marrakech for Families and Groups
Van rental in Marrakech is the simplest way for a family or a group of five to seven people to travel together with their luggage. With us, the 7-seat Kia Carnival starts from around 1,400 MAD per day, can be delivered to the airport or your riad, and handles both the motorway and the Atlas roads comfortably.
Why choose a van or 7-seater
- Everyone together: one vehicle, one driver, no convoy to coordinate on mountain roads.
- Luggage space: suitcases, pushchairs and golf bags fit without piling everything on laps.
- Comfort on long drives: Marrakech to Essaouira is around 2h45, and Ouarzazate around 4 hours. Space matters on those days.
- Cost per person: split between six or seven people, a spacious people carrier often costs less per head than organised transfers and tours.
Our van for rental in Marrakech: the Kia Carnival
The Kia Carnival is a spacious people carrier with seven seats, climate control and a large boot. It is comfortable enough for long road trips and smart enough for weddings or business groups. Being an automatic, it is also less tiring to drive in city traffic.
| Group size | Our suggestion | From (per day) |
|---|---|---|
| 4 people, light luggage | Dacia Duster or Hyundai Tucson | 400–600 MAD |
| 5 people with big suitcases | Peugeot 3008 or Kia Carnival | 600–1,400 MAD |
| 6–7 people | Kia Carnival | 1,400 MAD |
| 8 or more | Carnival plus a second car | On request |
For smaller families wondering whether an SUV is enough, our guide SUV vs 4x4 vs compact car helps you decide.
Van or two cars?
For groups of eight or more, or when part of the group wants to do different things, two cars can be more flexible: one family goes to the souks while the other drives up to Imlil. Two cars also means two drivers, two sets of fuel and two parking spaces, so for a group moving together, one van is usually simpler and more sociable. For five or six people who travel light, a large SUV may be enough; for seven people with luggage, the van wins clearly.
Keep in mind that every driver must meet the agency's conditions (usually minimum age 21 and 2 years of licence) and be named on the contract. Sharing the driving on a long road trip is a good idea, so add a second driver when you book.
Travelling with children
Seatbelts are compulsory for everyone, front and rear, and young children should travel in an appropriate child seat or booster. Request seats when you book, giving the children's ages, so we can prepare the right ones. Some practical tips from our team:
- Plan breaks every two hours; roadside cafés on the N9 and N8 are good for a mint tea and a stretch.
- Carry water and snacks, particularly on mountain roads where services are spaced out.
- Use sunshades on the rear windows in summer.
- Download maps offline in case the signal drops in the Atlas.
Driving a van in Morocco: what to know
In Marrakech
A van is not for the medina's lanes. Park in a guarded car park near your riad or use your hotel's parking, and walk the last stretch. Gueliz and Hivernage are easier for larger vehicles.
On mountain roads
The Carnival is at ease on the Tizi n'Tichka, but take bends calmly, use lower gears on long descents and allow extra time. Overtake lorries only with a clear view.
On motorways
The A7 is ideal: wide, fast and well surfaced. Keep to the 120 km/h limit and have cash or a Jawaz badge ready for the toll booths.
Airport pickup with a group
Arriving with a big group is where a van shows its value. Instead of juggling several taxis, you meet our agent in the arrivals hall and load everything in one go. Here is how pickup at Marrakech airport works. If your group is planning a longer loop, our 10-day Morocco road trip itinerary works very well with a van.
